Not much for you except a shot of Cody Michaels head. Rosenberg, why do you persecute me?

The ride in
The morning ride in was incredible...six foot drifts, angry soccer moms, locusts, Vikings fans, roadies, trackies, hipsters, messengers, cops in cars, dogs and cats living together, Snakecrotch, beer vendors, glass blowers, snowblowers, hippies, yippies, conservatives, liberals, Daryl Dawkins-glass-flyin-Robinzine-cryin'-I-am-jam.

Christmas Day Morning Edition
Mrs and I are lying around eating snacks and watching movies both good and bad. If you have to get dressed up in those cold-ass school clothes and go somewhere then I feel for you.
That Golden Retriever who was shot and patched up at the U is now lounging at the same foster parents house that once housed the fabulous Kiah before we adopted her. Dayle from RAGOM is a real sweetheart. I hate to think of what goes on the mind of someone who would shoot a dog and leave it to die.
Some guy was murdered on Lake Street this morning at like 2 am. As Florida State head football coach once said - 'not much good goin' on after 1 am'. You got that right, Bobby.
Before I forget, I hear that Governor Pawlenty is going to ask that the National Guard plow the streets in Saint Paul.

Christmas Eve Edition
Did it really snow in Chicago recently? I couldn't find a photo of a garbage truck with a plow on it.
Tuffy, that Cowboy's jersey is a little "snug". I'll need to forget where the bakeries are if I want to fit in it. Still, it's a really cool jersey.
Don't make an ass of yourself at family gatherings this Christmas. Don't put people on the spot about their relationships, jobs or their never-ending pursuit of a college degree. Don't talk politics or religion. And don't ask anyone about their weight or I'll come out of the woodwork with a f-ing shovel. You can always talk about the weather or my jersey collection.
Remember, don't be shy, take that last piece of pie even if you've already had a large slice.

Frozen water bottle
Yes, it's cold for bike riding but the Cullen boys are bigger whack jobs because they rode yesterday when it was 8 below. I'm sure they rode further than 4.23 miles.
Today's I-pod selection included:
Son Seals - Call my job
Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever
Chris Rea - Texas
Mademoiselle - Styx
Joss Stone - Bruised but not broken
Todd Rungren - Bang the drum all day
Still a couple of leftovers in the fridge from last week's luncheon. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Tuffy, the guy on the Cowboys who wore this is 6'5" and a biscuit under 300 pounds so I hope it fits. I'm not worried about that autograph coming out in the wash. Let's not talk about money. Talking money is so gauche (pronounced Go-Shay). I've got an Adrian Peterson coming this week too. Merry Christmas to me.

Ma would have turned 85 years old today. We're not going to feel bad or sorry for ourselves. We are going to celebrate her life with good food and fond stories of her quirkiness. She was a good sport and very tolerant of her son. One of the nursing assistants at Heritage told me Ma always said 'he's my crazy one' after I left.

You've got the look
Congratulations to my homeboy Master Cullen on his 3rd place finish at the US Cyclocross Nationals being held in Kansas City, Missouri this weekend. Master Cullen is shown here modeling the Planet Bike skinsuit he has been racing in. I once had a bachelor pad not far from the Nats course where I entertained the ladies with my fondue pot, toaster oven and console tv.

Today we bury the great Addie Przeslicke at 11 am at Saint Mary's Cemetery. Where do I get the side that loves colorful jerseys and Hawaiian shirts from? Now you know. From this day forward I shall celebrate Mother's birthday on December 20th. Don't feel sad. I was lucky to know and love one of the great human beings of all time. My family thanks all of you for your love and compassion during the last three weeks.

Glad I looked for those shoes
My brother Jim had mentioned that Ma had a crucifix from my father's coffin and I didn't think too much about it. Today I asked Debbie to help me locate a pair of shoes I wear all winter (accommodates thicker socks) so she looks in my closet and the shoes aren't there but the crucifix is. It's in a bag and has a note my mother wrote which said -'Crucifix is from Dad's coffin. Please put in mine.' My mother would see the humor in this. I rushed the crucifix over to the mortician's who will place it in the coffin for a nominal fee of $29.99. The mortician also asked about flowers. Ma always said to bring her flowers when she could enjoy them and not waste our money when she was dead. I told the mortician this and he got a good laugh out of it. Me too.

Forever in my heart
Thursday, December 4, 2008
My brother is spending the night at Ma's. Gee, I got the call from the nurse 2 weeks ago tomorrow. She hasn't eaten anything since last Saturday and hasn't moved in 2 days. But still that heart keeps on beating. The morphine in small doses is to regulate her breathing and that it has. Honestly, I was going to rake those leaves Thanksgiving week. Ma knew how much I loathed yard work.

Not the kind of person who would burden her family my mother made pre-arrangements for her funeral. I took her to see her final resting place after she purchased it and went back today because I wanted to see the headstone. She will be at Saint Mary's at 46th and Chicago which is close to my house. But tonight she fights on proving what I always knew...that's one tough old bird.
